Welcome Walkaroos
Where did it all Start?
Walking Football Brisbane began in late 2017. Alan Templeton began planning to start WF in Brisbane, after being unable to find it being played anywhere in Brisbane and further afield to NSW and across the country. Since January 7, 2018, the game has taken off across the country and it was only a matter of time, that international WF would be in demand.
Walking Football Australia was ’born’ in January 2019 when WF Australia was invited to play in the Inaugural IWFF WF World Cup in London on June 3 2019. After reaching the semi-finals, they narrowly lost 0-1 to the eventual winners, WALES - Well done to players and the 14 teams who participated in this great event. This was the start of more exciting events on the international arena.
WF Australia Walkaroos
Walking Football Australia Walkaroos have been around the scenes now for almost 6 years in Australia. Established in 2019, we have been a conduit for those players wishing to ply their skills on a higher level they currently play to in Australia. Overseas tournaments enable that pipe dream players have of representing their country to become a reality.
Walking Football Australia has now taken teams to London twice in 2019 and 2023, Florence Italy, in 2022, Wales 2023 and also Chesterfield in May 2024 when we took 7 teams (3 Women and 4 Mens teams) to compete at the IWFF World Championships, in what was a great success for those concerned. We intend to grow even more when we travel to Sweden with 8 Teams in 2025
Exciting times ahead for Walkaroos
Chesterfield 2024.
What an exciting venture Chesterfield turned out to be when Walking Football Australia took seven (7) teams to the IWFF World Championships in the UK on 17-19 May 2024. We weren’t there either to make up the numbers, and quickly showed everyone we were up for a good battle with our 50s Men and Women sides getting a few great results in their first couple of games. Our 50s Women were Runners Up in their division bringing home Silver.
A fantastic effort by all 7 seven teams. Our 50s Men’s player Paul Brown, deservedly won Player Of the Tournament.
Congraulations, Paul and all (7) seven teams for a great week of showing the Walking Football world, that Australia is a serious player amongst the big nations.
Trials for 2025.
Trials will be held on the East Coast of Australia likely for players in Brisbane, Coolum, Gold Coast and Ballina, being looked at while we will hopefully hold one in Coffs Harbour on another date in the same month
Western Australia, South Australia and Victoria players are most welcome to attend these trials, BUT NOT expected to travel so far.
The Pan Pacific Masters Games are NOT TRIALS however, players from those states can request to be looked at and considered during the games.

International Walking Football
The journey to lift your game starts here.
Our 4 previous major events have left many great memories amongst all participants over the past 5 years.
What’s Been Happening.
Our long term goals are to take our best possible teams to each overseas events. Since 2019, we have always called on our willing travellers to prop up the squads and they have been fantastic in doing so. However, 2023, was the time to go the next level and look across Australia to reach out to take the best players we possibly could to have a chance of competing with other countries at this level of the game.
The International Walking Football calendar is likely to be very congested in 2024/25, but we hope to be able to have representative teams at each event held in Europe.
There will also be potential for us to host international events here in Australia much sooner than later.
Wales 2023
We were very well welcomed to Cardiff after departing London, ahd quckly got into our friendly games on the Friday. While we had experienced the cold weather in London, we were in for a shock on Tournament day when it was Minus 4 degrees celcius inside the indoor venue.
A definite culture shock for us all with an unusual cold snap being the main topic of the event. The tournament was very well organised, and the teams made the best of challenging conditions as did our supporters, who were happy to return back to the hotel to ‘thaw’ out and enjoy the evening dinner and drinks. We thank the IWFF and Wales Walking Football for their wonderful hospitality.
London 2023
Who would have thought our journeys to the UK in late November would turn out to be such a wonderful occasion. Our initial visit was to London where we were fortunate to play some very good warm up games against very good teams like Chelsea, Fulham, Carribean then onto Barnet FC where we were welcomed by very tough teams in Peru 50s and the Barnet 50s-60s & 70s Mens squads.
Thank you to Shaun Ashley Sherrick from Barnet for being a tremendous host, and of course our good friend, Mark Blythe from Chelsea for making our time there a fantastic time and great memories during our time in London. A huge thank you from us all here in Australia

We intend to take 8 teams to Sweden for the IWFF World Championships in Malmo on July 3-6 2025.
